Outlook Express (OE) won't allow me to open and view attachments.  Here's how to allow attachments in OE.  Open OE, go to tools/options/security tab.  Uncheck “Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus.”  Apply and ok.

How Do I Send Messages to "Undisclosed Recipients" in Outlook Express?  Use the "Bcc" line.  Keep in mind some recipients discard "Undisclosed Recipients" mail as spam.  Something else to consider is Internet Service Providers (ISP's) cap, or limit the number of recipients to prevent spamming/flooding.

FTP
File transfer protocol (FTP) allows users to move files between local and remote systems easily, and is frequently used to upload large files and images to a host server (often a web page).  Some FTP clients are free, and I recommend WS_FTP Pro by Ipswitch, which is available free for evaluation here.

Where can I find my MSN chat log?   Assuming logging is enabled, the default path for Windows is (red is unique to your PC) c:/documents and settings/username/my documents/my received files/username@hotmail.com/history

How do I get rid of my sign in name history (email addresses) in MSN? Start/(settings)/control panel/user accounts, select your sign in name. Go to Manage my network passwords, select the user name (where you see blank in the example below); remove and save the change.  Delete all the names (addresses and passports) and messenger will no longer display the email addresses.  Instead you'll be prompted to sign in as if it were a new account.

Delete your sign in (email address history) in MSN.

I've lost my Windows product key 9x/ME/2K/XP  When Windows is installed, the Setup program requires that you type in a 25-character Product Key that is on the back of the CD (jewel) case or on a certificate on the cover of user manual.  During the Windows installation the product key is stored in the registry.  You can find it on your computer by clicking start/run and type in "regedit" (no quotes).  Click the plus signs to expand the branches in the registry until you reach:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version.  Scroll to the right until you find your product key.

You can also contact the manufacturer; but, be ready to provide proof of purchase.  It's often best to write this number directly on the CD.

I don't know my version of Windows.  Start/run and type in "winver".  You should see your version of Windows displayed there.

How can I disable those annoying balloon tips?  You can disable balloon tips here, or you can use a utility like the XP TweakUI that comes bundled with PowerToys, (English version) and disable them there.  If you choose PowerToys, before you install them, make certain you uninstall older versions and reboot when prompted.  Open TweakUI, navigate to the Taskbar and Start menu, and uncheck them there.  Apply and OK.

Make sure you uncheck "Enable balloon tips", Apply & OK

What's the difference between "hibernate" and "standby"?    Hibernate saves the contents of RAM to disk, and powers down your PC.  When you power it back up, the contents of RAM saved to disk is loaded back into RAM and you pick up where you left off.  Standby maintains the RAM contents, and tosses the computer to a reduced power consumption rate.

What Is Overclocking? - under construction
Overclocking Basics

Overclocking Defined
"Overclocking" or "Tweaking" is pushing a device or software beyond its intended specifications with the objective of increased performance.

Overclocking impacts the temperature of your computer and can damage your system
Cooler PC's have less risk of failure or damage as a result of overclocking.  For this reason, serious overclockers go to great lengths to keep their systems cool.  Here are some links to utilities to help you keep an eye on your temperature and prevent it from getting too warm.

Temperature - Check Your Computer's (also see Overclocking)

How do I find out the temperature for my CPU?  Serious overclockers will have a good heatsink (cooling system) on their CPU.  However, the normal user sometimes wishes to know his or her maximum temperature for their CPU.   Here is a list of some of the maximum allowed temperatures.  Motherboard monitor provides a free utility to monitor your computer's temperature.  You can download this utility here.

Here's a screenshot of Motherboard Monitor, where you can monitor the temperature of your computer.

Vulnerability Lists
Many organizations
maintain lists of the latest vulnerabilities and what to do about them.   The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) lists vulnerabilities, incidents and fixes here.  They provide annual reports, security practices, statistics, intruder trends and other useful information.    Incidents.org lists trends, the most recently attacked ports, and provides a geographic description of attack sources.

Virtual Network Computing (VNC)

What is VNC?
VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is, a remote display system which allows you to view a desktop environment not only on the machine where it is running, but from anywhere on the Internet.  VNC can be useful for those who need to remotely access their PC, or another's (like Mom!) remotely, and is open source -- meaning it's free.  Obtain your free copy of VNC here.

I thought RealVNC's documentation was a bit deficient; so I'm developing my own here.
